The News International reported that Pakistan, after consultation and consideration of the pros and cons of the evolution of Pakistan`s national interests, would take a position on Israel`s water-of-life agreement. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi avoided speaking on the sensitive issue. In the months leading up to the agreement, Israel had secretly collaborated with the United Arab Emirates to combat the COVID 19 pandemic. European media reported that Mossad was discreetly sourcing health supplies from the Gulf states. Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, announced at the end of June 2020 that the two countries were cooperating in the fight against coronavirus and that the mossad leader, Yossi Cohen, had visited the VaE several times. However, a few hours later, the United Arab Emirates seemed to downplay this situation by revealing that it was simply an agreement between private companies and not at the state level. Following the Protocol of the Parties signed between the Parties in Abu Dhabi on 1 September 2020, the parties are cooperating to deepen and rapidly expand bilateral investment relations and place a high priority on the conclusion of financial and investment agreements, while recognizing the key role of these agreements in the economic development of the parties and the Middle East as a whole. The parties reaffirm their commitment to protecting investors, consumers, market integrity and financial stability and maintaining all applicable regulatory standards. The parties also recognize that they should jointly promote regional economic development and trade in goods and services and strive to promote cooperation in strategic regional infrastructure projects and envisage the creation of a multilateral working group on the Tracks for Regional Peace project.
The official of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hanan Ashrawi, criticized the agreement and wrote on Twitter: “Israel has been rewarded for not explaining openly what it has done illegally and persistently to Palestine since the beginning of the occupation.” Fatah accused the United Arab Emirates of “despising their national, religious and humanitarian duties” towards the Palestinian people, while Hamas declared it a “traitor sting in the back of the Palestinian people”, saying that the agreement was a “free reward” for the “crimes and violations of the Palestinian people”. On 13 August 2020, uae Foreign Minister Anwar Gargash announced the UNITED Arab Emirates agreement on normalizing relations with Israel and said his country wanted to address threats to the two-state solution, particularly the annexation of the Palestinian territories, and ask the Palestinians and Israelis to return to the negotiating table. He suggested that he did not think there would be an embassy in Jerusalem until there was a final agreement between the Palestinians and the Israelis. According to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “Israel and the United Arab Emirates will completely normalize diplomatic relations.
